The fifth meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Nairobi Convention (COP5) was held in Johannesburg from 5 to 8 November 2007. The meeting was convened by the secretariat of the Nairobi Convention at the kind invitation of the Government of South Africa

The purpose of this virtual meeting will be to further the discussion on developing a Regional Ocean Governance Strategy for the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) on Monday 26 April 2021 from 15h00 –17h00 EAT.
The 10th Conference of Parties Meeting took place over the course of 3 days: 23 - 25 November 2021.

The Conference of Parties (COP) is the decision-making forum of the Nairobi Convention where policies and strategies are agreed on to continue the protection, management, and development of the Western Indian Ocean.
The eleventh Nairobi Convention Conference of Parties will take place in Madagascar, between 19-23 August, 2024.
This Conference will reflect on progress made by Contracting Parties in protecting the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) region since the last COP in 2021, and capitalize on opportunitiesitment for a multilateral process to take timely and effective action to protect, develop, and manage the WIO, and strengthen partnerships.
